Dave’s interest in boats came at a young age from time spent with family and friends on the great lakes fishing and cruising. He went to college for automotive engineering and quickly found that boats were much more to his liking than cars!! Dave moved to northwest Michigan from the Detroit area in 2000. He took a job at a local boat dealership where he was factory trained and certified in many brands. There he met Scott and formed a great friendship. Dave and Scott have always had similar ideas and worked well together. They decided to start a business with a key idea, professional and expert mobile service with a smile. Thus The Boat Doctors was born. They enjoyed a very successful first year and built many great relationships with customers along the way. Dave currently lives in Benzonia, MI and enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, and just about anything outdoors as well as time together with friends and loved ones.

Scott began his marine repair career at a dealership in Flint, Michigan in 1995. From 1995 till 2000 he honed his skills as a technician by attending numerous manufactured sponsored schooling and good old fashion on the job training. Scott was also attending college learning business management. From 2000 to 2002, Scott was the service manager at the shop in Flint and this became a very rewarding job because he had a great team working for him and he was able to apply the skills he had learned in trade schools and college to create a profitable and fun place to work. In 2002, Scott and his wife moved to the Traverse City area. Scott got a job as a marine technician at a local marina. At this marina is where he met Dave Hayne. Scott and Dave realized they had a similar work ethic and ideas about how to serve the customers in the area with a better quality of craftsmanship without the same old production line style of some marinas. Scott went on to own an award winning Snap-On Tools franchise, which gave him the means to invest in Dave and their ideas. Thus, The Boat Doctors were created. Scott currently resides in Interlochen, MI with his wife, Mackenzie, and son, Chase. He enjoys hunting and spending time with good friends.
